Linear dimension function not working

To create a linear dimension you have to select two points, then extend line out to show dimension. However, I click to points and move out to press enter and finish it and there i nothing that shows up. After I finish the command it tells me the text height....??? It was working 2 minutes ago just fine. HELP!?!

Hi,

Can you upload a screenshot with the exact message.

And maybe helpful too would be to know if AutoCAD does that just in one drawing or also in a new drawing (based on an AutoCAD original template).

I have the same problem. In my case, all was working well and then instead of drawing the linear dimension, a vertical line is drawn at the side of the drawing.

I am using AutoCAD LT 2015 - English with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

Hi,

Welcome @forums.autodesk.com!

I'm not sure if it's the same problem, but also in that case please upload a drawing with such a dimension.

>> a vertical line is drawn at the side of the drawing

Just to make sure: you use a dimensionscale that would make the arrow and text visible. If the dimscale is to small it might be possible that you see only a line because arrows and text is so small that you can't see it.
