Invert Crosshair Color in AutoCAD 2011

Is there a way to make the cross hairs default to the inverse of the color under them (e.g. black when over white, blue when over yellow, cyan when over red, etc.)? I remember that it did this in previous versions, but I can't find a setting for it in 2011.

Normally, "white" crosshairs will automatically invert to "black" if the background is white, and vice versa, but I believe they'll aways default to "black" if you try to set them the same color as any other background color. You can obviously make your crosshairs any color you want, but I don't ever recall them automatically switching to contrast non-standard background colors.  If this is something you do frequently, perhaps you could make a profile for each color scheme.

Works the same as in older the versions here, aka color inversed like you mentioned. I use white xhair on black background.

My crosshairs are set to white in model space (black background), and they turn black in paper space (white background). But they don't change color depending on what is behind them. I was working with a drawing with a lot of white solid hatches, and my crosshairs weren't visible on top of the hatch. It was pretty frustrating. It sounds like it's not a version thing. I wonder where the setting is.

Options/Display/Colors... will bring up the dialog box to change the colors of the cursor. I have my cursor set to 140 so I can see it easily on the black and white backgrounds. My problem was losing it in paperspace.

There is always a hatch or solid with odd color, that will block the crosshair

AutoCAD -> Options -> System -> Performance Settings -> Manual Tune -> Enable Hardwere acceleration : Uncheck

Will INVERSE (make it opposite color here) crosshair in Paper or Model space.

Disabling hardware acceration did the trick. Thanks!

Okay, that has to be one of the most obscure places to effect crosshair performance! Couldn't imagine why hardware acceleration would change the cursor color. Thanks, cadhelp.

I agree. It seems like they should be able to include this in the crosshair color options. I hope disabling hardware acceleration doesn't negatively impact performance.
