I bought a new laptop Asus k73SV-TY081V version.
most likely its a hardware issue with one of your video cards
you may need to call computer support to see if you can disable the intel graphics card
I did that but i'm not able to turn off the intel card.
When i restart my computer and try to change the nvidia settings i get a message that my screen is not connected to my nvidiacard...
There are alot messages about problems with the GT540M card so i dont think, shutting down the intelcards will work...
I am have the same problem with the Intel Graphics Accelerator Driver for Windows 7 along with
NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M 3GB graphics with Optimus.
I did see a solution posted, was one posted for this problem?
I have me to the same probleme with my xps15 with nvidia 525M and intel HD3000.
First of all your laptop probably use sandy brige. that meens your HD intel graphic card is in fact integrated in the CPU.
You can't desable it, your screen is plug on mb and control by it.
The problem should be
-a problem with the drivers intel (directx or memory use)
-Autocad bug with this tipical architecture
i start to think that on autocad child windows (after a clik) lose its parent/child handle
the system think about a new application and try to use intel graphic controler insted nvidia
And this cause a crash.
I think about that becaus after crash some tool bar or icon had desapered from autocad main windows
and some time
But for now i don't think there is solution
i forget to tel you some point about this problem
first it should also come frome windows 7 and the management of the 2 graphic controler.
what let me think about it is :
in the windows 7 quick launch toolbar you have miniature of the main acad windows and each of the drawing windows that for me is strange and meen that each windows is view from the system as a different instance???
a another point this time on autocad LT i have some time my windows explorer windows that apear inside autocad as if it is a drawing windows :-§ ??????
so this bug don't make my computers bug because they aren't notebook using 2 graphic ship.
ather think someone with a computer (not a notebook again ) with sandy brige and intel hd 3000 inside CPU say me that he don't have problem .
In fact he probably use is graphic card directly connect on the screen and there is no swicth between the 2 graphic controler and so probably no bugs.
When i use distant control i don't have bug.
I try also to use a second screen and for the moment i didn't see any bugs.
I'm getting this problem too now. It seems as if Dell ships their laptops with all the wrong drivers >_>. I am getting "graphics card has stopped responding" now during certain actions. Meausre and trim seem to be the biggest problem. Clicking on those crashes AutoCAD. I'd like to think that if I find the newest driver for the Intel HD graphics family (3000) card in my laptop ot might actually work. I am having a hard time finding their drivers, though.
My driver version according to device manager is 220.127.116.112
However, I am unsure if this is the latest version.
The nvidia optimus is becoming more trouble than it's worth if what you said about the toolbars. Nvidia needs to figure out this Optimus thing soon becuase I'm starting to regret the purchase. If this is truely a hardware issue, I'm going to have to throw in the towel and get a new laptop.
If anyone can help me with the Intel drivers I would appreciate it.
EDIT: This user seems to be having the same problem: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-2012/video-d
Notice that he's another XPS 15 user. Dell seriously.
Isn't the Intel HD graphics the on-chip graphics for the second-generation i5/i7 processors, rather than an actual graphics card? Good for "office productivity software", not so good for CAD work.
I have the same problem. I find that using Trim or Offset are my main culprits! What is it with Dell?! I paid just over £1000 for thislaptop and I'm a student (ergo skint) and actually can't afford a new one. This is maddening.
Has anyone found a solution? I am pretty sure it sounds like a driver issue but I can't seem to find any reliable updates :/
Ok - for all you DELL users out there who are struggling with AutoCAD Architecture, Photoshop Cs5 and your Nvidia GeForce graphics card making friends I seem to have fixed it.
I did two things
1) turn your Windows 7 to the Classic Windows theme and take off any screen savers you may have on. It feels old but trust me, it made a huge difference! I just a have a 72 dpi basic pic as my background now.
2) Download this driver: http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win7-winvist
NOTE - there are two drivers that download and you have to do a restart for each one.
I am now trimming, measuring and offsetting with out the flashing lights Yay.
