How to draw a line perpendicular on an arc at the a particular point?

I wanted to draw a line perpendicular to an arc at a particular point but couldn’t approach it. In this case, I need two snaps to work at the same time! To be perpendicular on the curve and at the same time to be snapped to the point!

What is the best way to draw such line?

Thank you for the help

Best

Jamal

Jamal, draw a line from the CENTER of the ARC to the POINT you want to pass through - it will be perpendicular to the arc, just extend it to the length you need and TRIM what you don't.

Thank you guys for the answer.

What if the arc is just a curve that doesn’t have a centre! Then how can I draw a line perpendicular to it at a particular point?

Also Arcs do have centres, and if you have something like splines remember to constraints

Many thanks Alfred for the answer.

Sounds that the constraints can’t be set between Line and Spline!

How then to use the constraints?

You're right, I've just learned something, sorry!

What if the arc is just a curve

An arc is a special curve - part of a circle and it always has a center.

Your curve is spline - not an arc.

In a modern CAD program like Autodesk Inventor you could right click on the spline curve at the point and select Show Handle.
You could then lock the position of the handle and add a line perpendicular to the handle at the curve point.

I haven't checked to see if this is possible in AutoCAD or free Inventor Fusion.

The Xline entity/command allows for deferred perpendicular.  Create the infinite lines where needed, then trim accordingly.

Command: _xline

Thanx Sean, I hadn't noted that functionality with SPLINEs before. Of course, I NEVER use SPLINES.
