File path location on the drawing template

Hi,

Good day to all. I have a query.

We do have a std. template and would like to place a File Path location that will automatically search and place it in the drawing template/Title block.

How to do these in AutoCAD? I have attach a jpg as a reference on what we want.

Thanks & Regards,

Willie

(I'm not certain, but pretty sure this capability existed in 2012...)

Assuming you want the path/filename of the current file to appear there, I think what you're looking for is a FIELD (inserted in MText or in an AttDef).  The Field would point to the Filename property, and you can choose case and whether to include path, filename, extension.

Would really appreciate some help on the below:

Is there a way to have a field show only a part of the file path?

To elaborate, I have a template folder that contains my cad file. For every new job I name the folder as such: Client_Address_JobDescription. Ideally, in my title block field I would like the field to automatically import the Client, address, and Job Description separately as such:

Without delving into this more deeply (which I don't have time to do at present), I think you would have to do some "parsing" of your folder names. This might be done within the field object itself (maybe a DIESEL expression?), but it also might be done beforehand using LISP or some other application which would store the pieces in variables (or some-such) that a field or fields can be pointed to.

Consider posting a new request in the Customization group.
