Recently installed the upgrade of AutoCAD 2012 from AutoCAD 2011.
It did not seem to migrate things very well? My PGP did not follow over and in addition to a few other settings.
I use the esc (escape) key to end a string of comands or if I want to go another direction. In AutoCAD 2012 when I hit the esc key on my keyboard it does NOTHING?
Not sure how to fix this? It is a key on my keyboard, not a keystroke shortcut?

i have that happen on my computer from time to time. only when i have photoshop CS4 open though. photoshop CS4 seems to steal the escape key from my system until i close it. i think you can also change what the escape key does in the CUI editor. just make a new command and name it escape and it's macro to be ^C, then drag it up into the shortcut keys and hit the elipses (...) button and hit escape. that should fix it. if not, there's probably some program if not photoshop that is keeping it from working, or your keyboard may be broken or it may be mapped to another languages keyboard or something. try rebooting. other than that, i can't think of anything else.
WEIRD!!! That is exactly what has happened...I had Photoshop open and once I closed it and restarted AutoCAD it started working again.
I will try adding the macro to see if I can resolve the issue permanently. But I wonder if this should be reported to AutoCAD for a future fix in an update. I will see if I can forward this on to the right people so they are aware of it.
Thanks for the help!
it's actually adobe that should be fixing this. photoshop seems to be stealing the key input for the escape key on a system level. with all the adobe updates i get, seems like this one should have been resolved by now... and it may be in CS5, i don't know since i don't have that version.
I am not disagreeing with you, as I am no expert...But I never had a problem with this happening with AutoCAD 2011 or any versions prior to AutoCAD 2012. I have been using several different Adobe products in conjunction with AutoCAD for years. So I am surprised this would not be an AutoCAD issue?
So then the question becomes who do we ask to resolve the issue?
i think its more likely a Ram issue, i got the same call to fix, ESC key not working, close the second session of autocad and fix. another person wasnt loading all the partial menus, close the second session of autocad, the email, a few other things, and fix.
Closing Photoshop to free the ACAD 2012 Escape key also worked for us. This said, it's only a workaround, and users must be able to use both applications together.
Why do you think it may be a RAM issue?
This just happened to us at work today....wow....ESC worked right away after we closed out of Autocad....
We thought the keyboard was going out....
