~ I want to purge the color yellow from autocad. ~
Is it possible to override all the colors of an existing *.DWG to a Monochrome Format? I want to be able to open any autocad file and veiw everything in black and white IN MODEL SPACE.
I am not interested in 'changing layer colors' or 'manually changing blocks to the right color.' Right now, I explode the entire drawing (several times depending on how deep something is grouped) and change the color to bylayer, but sometimes blocks become contaminated and lose all their data. (In addition, I am not interested in plotting in Monochrome.)
If this task is impossible, is it possilbe to change the definition of the color "yellow." What I mean by the previous statement is to trick autocad into thinking it is using 'yellow' when it is actually using a different color. Sort of like an induced color blindness.
SUMMARY: I don't want to change a color FROM yellow, I just don't want yellow TO EXIST.

Hi,
>> I want to be able to open any autocad file and veiw everything in black and white IN MODEL SPACE.
Right-click onto the tab "Model" ==> page setup ==> modify ==> select "monochrome.ctb" (or .stb) and activate "Display plot styles" ... all is displayed now in black/white.
Problem in this case: that does only work with visual styles that are not rendered/shaded as their display is then converted to true-color, so CTB or STB does not get active. In that case turn the visual style to 2D-Wireframe.

Thank you. While I was unable to activate "Display Plot Styles" in Model Space, the feature worked fine in Paperspace.
(You may be wondering why I was asking for such an option: I use Mathcad and often import autocad details to illustrate my calculations. Since I recycle details provided by my client; I typically copy and paste the details from the drawings directly into my mathcad sheets. However, Mathcad recognizes autocad colors, so I often find myself with yellow on a white background. )
Importing a Black and White Image From Autocad into Mathcad:
While I was unable to copy what is viewed from paperspace, I was able to copy my details from modelspace and PASTE them directly into paperspace. I then activated"Display Plot Styles", copied my details from paperspace and them pasted them into mathcad.
Hi,

Depends what AutoCAD release you are working with. I tried it with 2012, there it works in modelspace too, while with 2010 it is not an option (have not tried it now with 2011)

For displaying B&W it should not be necessary to change the geometry from modelspace to paperspace (btw: the command _CHSPACE does the exchange of the data from modelspace to paperspace and vice versa).
At least good to know it works for you now 😉

I have 2011 and it is not an option, it 'exists' but it is grayed out.
True, I don't have to import geometry from modelspace to paperspace in order to view the model in monochrome. However, I need to move the geometry to paperspace in order to 'copy' a monochrome model; otherwise I only copy the viewport and the viewport is 'empty' after I paste it to Mathcad.
Thank you again, you just saved me hours of tedious work.
