Deleting a Drawing

I delete a drawing (drawing1.dwg) but everytime I power up AutoCad 2011 the drawing comes up. It has a small square near the southeast corner of the screen. Why is it coming up all of the time?

AutoCAD 2011 and lower always starts with a blank file. R2012 can be set to not do that.

Why not set STARTUP variable to 1 so that when AutoCAD is started, you get the prompt to open a file instead.
