I have AutoCAD 2012 installed at a machine. Mostly it works very slow. Some days it works quite normal.
- Everything works very slow. Both the cursor, the command field and the menu's.
- To execute a command, that takes a lot of time.
- As I said, some days there's nothing wrong.
All service-packs are installed. The newest graphical driver is installed. Windows 7 Aero is disabled.
Hard- and software:
- Windows 7 professional
- INTEL XEON W3565(3.2GHZ)
- 4GB (2X2GB) 1333MHZ DDR3 ECC
- 1 GB NVIDIA QUADRO 2000
sometimes after installing the SP it is necessary to disable and reenable the hardware-acceleration (command _3DCONFIG ==> Manual tune).
If that is no help then let us know what you already tried from >>>here<<< (so many tips yet).

It can't be both, that's too random to assume it's only an AutoCAD issue sadly. What else is running, or not running, on those good days?
Or do you run different profiles (AutoCAD or Windows) on certain days?
Or do you plug, or unplug, from your network on those days?
This seems strange on Windows 7 64-bit box... but I'll take your word for it. Is Selection Cycling turned on? If so, turn it off. On my old XT system that made all the performance difference in the world.
I started using AutoCAD Release 10, and as AutoCAD develops, I find more improvements yet also a lot of rubbish development as in Autocad 2012. I spent 8 long frustrating hours for just ONE drawing!!! It's soooo slow, and those annoying boxes that is said can be hidden or turned off just won't and everytime I click on an object, those blasted things get in the way. I appreciate Autodesks efforts on improving the tool but please do consider these things that give us draftspeople a very hard time especially when working on drawings like a combined utilities of a huge project!!!
>> and those annoying boxes
Which do you mean, can you make a screenshot and show that dialog here?
Maybe it's just something activated you don't need?

Hi there... will post screenshot tomorrow as not had time to get one today. To continue.... why are those boxes necessary? If after having made my pickbox smaller than normal, I would click on a blank space and there goes the box or boxes of other entities appearing then in the end, had to zoom as near as I can just so to avoid it. I tried to hide them, evel used the DELCONSTRAINT but there they are! they just won't go away. . . :-( Such an unnecessary nuisance... And as mentioned, with all the utilities combined. . .renegeration takes soooo long. Even just to click on something takes ages,.... why is that? And am sure you can imagine what it is like....
