AutoCAD 2010 Crashes on Start UP

We have a newly imaged WinXP-64 bit computer that AutoCAD 2010 is install on. When executing AutoCAD 2010 the interface opens for about one second and then AutoCAD closes. I have uninstalled the software, removed the Autodesk directory from the users Application Data directory, remove the Autodesk directory from the Program Files directory and reinstalled. I still have the same problem when executing AutoCAD 2010. I have even gone as far as removing any reference to Autodesk and AutoCAD from the registry after uninstalling the AutoCAD 2010. Once reinstalled it still does not work. Does anyone have an idea of what may be wrong?

Hi,

>> We have a newly imaged WinXP-64 bit computer that AutoCAD 2010 is install on

Does that mean you have cloned a harddisk that already had AutoCAD installed on it (for another computer)?

If so you will have the problem that the registration of AutoCAD is bound to the other pc (and it's hardware). So cleaning of files you see is one, but the files you don't see (to make the authorization-codes hidden) may be the problem then.

>> the interface opens for about one second

Is the interface visible or just the splash-screen? If just the splash screen ==> look to >>>this info<<< that gives tips on how to remove some files that have to do with AutoCAD-registration.

Good luck, - alfred -

Our company has a Windows 7 image that our IT department has developed. The image only contains Microsoft Office 2010 products, Norton Antivirus and other corporate applications. All user applications are installed on a per need basis at the user desk by application software installers. The AutoCAD 2010 license is a 100 seat network license. The installation is the only installation that we have seen this problem on. We have had is reimaged again and two days later the problem started again. The AutoCAD splash screen comes up and shuts down in a fraction of a second.

XP turns on DEP sometimes and it kiils new installs: look it up and exclude AutoCAD .

Otherwise you need to be posting in the installation help forum (manned by Autodesk staff), not here.

If it is a network license, it could be a corrupted CascadeInfo.cas file.  Have you tried deleting it and relaunching?

For more detailed information about the CascadeInfo.cas file, please refer to the Autodesk Support Knowledge Base article found here:
