    xline & polyline anomaly.

i have a closed polyline, when i pick a point using a construction line it automatically selects horizontal, vertical or a random angle xline for me, depending on the nearest line im moving my cursor over, instead of the normal action of if i run the same command on a line it lets me select a point and the second point i pick dictates the angle of my xline. is that clear? now so i dont waste everyones time, ive been using xlines as long as ive been using cad and in 2008 ive never comes across this, 2010 this happens. is there an automatic alignment variable or some clever thing that they have put in 2010 that i do not know about? the same thing happens when snapping to blocks. p.s. yes my z values are 0. thanks for any help in advance.

was my first thought too when i saw it but unfortunately not. i have everything off except osnaps...if anyone else draws a polyline in 2010 then runs the XL command pick a point...does it do similiar to what im describing??

My 2010LT does exactly the same thing. I have tried everything I can think of but cannot find a fix for this either. It has brought me to the point where I have quit using xline :smileysad:

The answer for your problem is very silly. Try to switch off the osnap settings -> perpendicular and your problem will disappear.
