i have a drawing with a 40 layout tab, so i need to separate all this layout tab in separate drawing,
i try save as layout drawing but the layout goes into the model space, i need still in the layout tab.
i want to know if there's a command or an LSP to separate all the layout tabs?
If you've Wblocked your layout tab just start a new drawing and insert the block into a layout tab and explode it; however, this will not bring anything that was in model space into the new drawing. You would have to Wblock the layout contents and the model contents that pertain to each layout tab in which case you just open the Wblocked model part and insert the Wblocked layout part into the layout tab and explode it.
Another option is to make each layout tab active and do a SAVEAS to create the sheet for that layout. Then open each new drawing and delete the excess layouts.
Your problem belongs to many of us. Why Autodesk doesn't have a routine to do it "properly" is beyond me. We also need all X-ref's to remain as is.
What I have had to do is write protect the "base file" and "save as" it as many times as I have layouts, each time to an appropriate name and than deleting all the other layers until I have as many drawings as I had layers.
What a stinking work around.
Anybody have a better way?
Autodesk, are you listening??!!
1. wblock the model space to a file call it MS.DWG
2. create new dwg base on ms.dwg as a template
3. insert your first layout tab with ADCENTER
4. repeat 2 & 3 (40 times )
