AutoCAD 2010/2011/2012 DWG Format

So, I just noticed that autodesk 'bundled' a Faro LS driver with the 2011 installation... (it really peeves me when companies slip useless extra programs into their installs!)

Does anyone know - Is it safe to uninstall this bloat-ware or will it cause issues to the acad installation?

The more I research it - this appears to be a 'required' component for essentially all the 2011 autodesk products.

I would feel better about it if I knew what good it was... it look like the great minds at autodesk have spent a bunch on integrating a 3-d scan/print mechanism into the product line. Since I generally don't use 3-d for my work, it seems like wasted hdd space.

Of course I wish the developers would focus on pre-existing issues and fix them rather than adding new features, which will likely themselves introduce new bugs...

Anyone have an insight as to what it is doing or why this thing is required this year?

Consider a side move to LT, or perhaps one of those dwg-working-apps, if you
find AutoCAD to be too much bloatware and no longer meeting your needs.

AutoCAD is not 2D only, it's always had a 3D component and it is now
expanding into point clouds and being able to start capturing 3D data from
the field. This is a big advance for the program and will slowly mature as
that technology matures. It will expand and grow and add features that you
alone may not find useful but many others using the product will find
useful.
