Xref / Layer States Manager Question

Ok here you go,
I have a Xref with multiple Layer States,
I xref'd it into a sheet with Floor plan Layer States,
nowi want to Xref it in again with the Ceiling Plan Layer Staes.
Just to be clear i want the same Xbase Xref'd in a sheet twice with 2 different layer states. how do i do this????

The only way I could think of at the moment is to make a copy of your xref file and have one file with one layer states and the other with the other layer states.

- xref onto sheet
- create layout viewport1
- load layerstate1
- from within viewport1's model space, manipulate viewport layers to match model space layers (easy to do with creative sorting and mass matching), thaw/on/unlock all xref layers in model space, save as layerstate1a (or whatever)
- create layout viewport2
- load layerstate2
- repeat step 4, save as layerstate2a

Attach the base file > rename the attachment in the xref manager to something like XCLG > attach the same base file again > they should be listed individually > repeat as necessary
You must save the base file in which ever layer state you want it to be attached in prior to attaching each time. Make sure the option "Retain changes to Xref Layers" is checked under "Open and Save"

The "Retain Changes to Xref Layers" check box option is found in
TOOLS>OPTIONS>Open and Save>External References.
