XREF coming in darker than original

When I attach an Xref, the gray is a darker shade then what I originally created. The layer is UNLOCKED so it isn't that. What is it?

use XDWGFADECTL = 90; make it lighter

Thanks! That helped except 0 makes it lighter, 90 darker.
