Hey it took about 6 attempts just to log in, and posting this thread took multiple attempts. What's the problem, too few servers?

Maybe they started the forum upgrade early? -> "While we launch this
upgrade, the discussion groups will be unavailable from 3pm (PDT)
Thursday, June 3 and Friday June 4."
(here's a fun fact, I've had no problem accessing with NNTP all day ;-p
man I'm gonna miss it)

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Perhaps by making the existing forum soo slow and unfriendly
the new one will seem like Autodesk did such a great job.

Web-browser users will see clear improvement from the existing system with the launch (upgrade) planned for tomorrow. Not questioning that NNTP users will have to navigate workflow transitions to use ANY web-based option, but expect the new system improvements will make those transitions easier.
