Hey guys.
I just joined autodesk and need some advice. I'm a student, and I want to learn autodesk courses and I want to know which one to start with.
Thanks.

If you're pretty good with self-teaching or figuring things out on your own, you might want to try that route. Nowadays there are so many free online resources (you can learn just about anything on YouTube nowadays! Plus don't forget Autodesk University podcasts). There's also the Autodesk recommended Mastering series books (Mastering AutoCAD, Mastering Inventor, etc.) you can buy. I know I bought the Inventor and Revit ones and learned BIM on my own, but maybe I had an easier time moving to these platforms because I already knew some form of CAD software, which was AutoCAD.
Best of luck to you,
Clara

Join AUGI.com (free), go to the Education tab and find the Archived ATP courses. Look for courses like: ATP253 - AutoCAD 101 A Survival Course for Beginners.(2009). Basic classes do not need to be taught in the latest version.

Thanks for the help.
So I guess autoCAD would be the one to start with?

That depends on the field you are entering. If you simply want to get a basic foundation of CAD work and Drafting, then AutoCAD is "good enough", but if you want to get a leg up on your fellow students (ie. your competition) then take CAD courses that reflect the field you want to get into (ie. Civil 3D for Civil). And keep in mind that the majority of "vertical applications" like Civil 3D, or MEP, etc. run off AutoCAD, so anything you learn in a "basic" course will stil apply to the fancier software.
Another good tip, get an AutoCAD "Command Reference" book. It's all well and good to know which buttons to press when, but it's even better to KNOW about the buttons you are pressing, and know the commands that may not have a button to press.
