A couple weeks ago I discovered a strange problem with AC: the programme hangs up rapidly if I click on "open" icon, or "insert raster" or anything that causes opening a new explorer window in AC. Just hangs up, mouse freezes and I cannot do anything, I must close it by Alt+Ctrl+Del. It happens on every AC, 2010, 2011, 2012; student version or not. I've got W7 x64, graphics card INTEL HD5700 (i5). I have to say in advance, that before formatting hard drive everything was perfect (AC 2011 in that case). I present what I've found out recently:
1) The problem started occur when I create a drawing with raster (.jpg) in ZWCad, edited further in AC.A file in attachment
2) The problem is strongly considered to be connected with AC profiles. If I reinstall AC everything is OK as far as I don't change any options is profile (workspace, background color, additional icons and so on). If I change anything the problem occurs. Of course, I CAN draw, edit, plot etc. but I cannot open anything from AC level, also save as any other format.
To present time, I found a temporary solution: when I open new drawing, I open "options" window, choose profile, change to default, click OK, reopen option window and change back to my saved profile. Then everything is all right. Nonetheless, the problem is very annoing !
The rest actions I made: reset AC profile and windows profile from registry, install ALL service packs for 2k10 CAD, install sth like msxml_x64 from AUTOCAD install directory. It didn't help at all. Any suggestions?
>> Any tips exluding formatting hard drive?
Try with login as another user to your Windows. So you have an environement that is not touched (as long as applications did no changes to the installation directory of AutoCAD) and that is as clean as possible.
Let's know if that helped.

the user account on win7 u use to open Autocad dosn't have the administrator privilege. you can fix this by right click on my computer choose manage open local user and groups, then Users on the right window u will find the administrator account is disable double click and uncheck (Account is disable) re login. and use this account I hope this will fix ur problem with Autocad.
