AutoCAD 2010/2011/2012 DWG Format

I just tried on my neighbors machine and it works fine. Is there a variable setting that could have this turned off? My SP's are up to date.

VPLAYEROVERRIDES, it is a read only variable and VPLAYEROVERRIDESMODE = 1

I just finished a REPAIR install and its working now. I tried a neighbors machine and it was working so I narrowed it down to my particular machine.

This is happening again in another drawing. I REALLY dont want to reinstall again.

I am getting the same problem.  

In summary I would like to x ref a plan drawing and make it grey within a viewport so I can do a lighting layout over the top of a greyout drawing.

As you will see 99% of the lines turn to grey when I change their viewport properties. However the lines that have been changed in the original drawing from out of the normal Bylayer properties do not go to the desired grey.

The reason why I have changed these lines in the original drawing is because I want the lines a heavier weight.

Really appreciate any advice.  I have tried it on the other lapotp in office and does not work on that either.

1) The layers displayed in your Layer Manager, are filtered to show only the xref layers, so what you did in the video would not have changed the VP color for any non-xref'd objects.

2) If those objects already have color property over-rides assigned, they will not change color when changing the layer color.

2) If those objects already have color property over-rides assigned, they will not change color when changing the layer color. Yes the lines with object not coming out in grey already have the colour overides changed in the original drawing.  This is because I want the lines to be heavier in the original drawing. As such I do not want to have to change the overides in the original drawing but when I referrence the drawing into this new sheet I want them to come out grey.??

Any idea on how best to achieve this?

If they are not BYLAYER in the original (xref) I don't believe you can override their color.  I would put those objects on thier own layer in the original drawing, set their properties back to BYLAYER, and make that layer any color or lineweight you choose.

If just for plotting, you could use plot styles to "override" the display color.

Good point I will try use tthe plot styles to "override" the display color and make everything turn grey.

I still do not understand the logic of why Autocad would not allow you to override all elements in the viewport as, after all it is a 'viewport overide'?
