    The Worst Yet!

I have been using AutoCAD / Civil 3D since R2006, and without doubt this is the worst version for falling over, bugging out and basically crashing for no reason what so ever!

When oh F***ING H***L when are Autodesk gonna listen to the current users and fix all the bugs, test the software properly and stop issuing a new version every year?

New users will still come along and buy your product, regardless if it's 1 year, 2 years or 3 years old, infact more might buy it because possible it wont have all these SHI**Y bugs!

    Oh we can but hope.

those of us that started earlier than you and had to deal with R13 feel
your pain ;-P It's interesting though that I've had 2010 vanilla
running since it arrived and have yet to have one "crash" that is
attributable to the program. Makes one wonder whether the difference
between your experience and mine is workflow related, hardware related,
or something else. If everyone who has 2010 installed was having the
problems that some are reporting then I would agree that the program if
flawed. But that's not the case. While AutoCAD has never been perfect
software I've generally had a good experience with it. I have had
problems in the last couple of months with a bad RAM stick that made
working in Acad pretty sucky until I figured out what was wrong but
    other than that, no problemo.

Please tell me what OS you are running w/ 2011. I'm running Windows 7 64bit and 2011 is the worst thing since R13. I constanatly get windows crashes etc. It seems that they don't play well together or there are some settings that need to be changed. Any info would be helpful. I get feed back from Autodesk whiuch is great. But, trying to get support from Microsoft is like talking to the wall.

Do any of these constant crashes you are experiencing invoke the crash
report dialog? If so what email address are you entering for the report?
If I know the email address I can locate the reports you've sent in to see
if there's something obvious going wrong.

I'm in agreement - and in the same boat. I'm running Windows 7 64bit and have no end of problems. I'm also on subscription and have posted some of these issues there without any helpful suggestions. By the way - I'm also running on a new high end workstation from HP and mobile workstation from HP. Both systems spec'ed by Autodesk/HP partnership. I was having so many problems on the main workstation including crashing 5 to 6 times a day I was beginning to think there was a conflict with some other software on the system. When the mobile workstation came in - again Windows 7 64bit - Autocad Architecture was the only thing I put on, thinking I might narrow down the conflicting software. There are still many problems on the laptop. I think you're right about the Windows7 compatibility - I wish someone at Autodesk would confirm this. 2010 ran on Vista 64 pretty much without issue. It is infuriating that after 6 weeks of using this program and begging for help we're still where we started. If Autodesk develops the software on these HP systems as they claim and you purchase the systems they spec, there should be no problems.

    Hi Trev,

Thanks.  Based on the email address you
provided, every crash report you sent in for the 2011 release is crashing in the
    following module:

        C:\Program
    Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011\idwgtab2010x.arx

You might try un-installing the idwgtab2010x
application and seeing if things stabilize for you.

    That's a shame, as it's a very useful tool.

I'll uninstall and see what happens.

    Thanks
