I have a strip layout we have done. Its not a full design, but is a good example of the needs to be able to unfold a part.

...and of course a sldasm file without sldprt files is useless.
This is usually covered early on in training.
A sldasm file is simply a list of hyperlinks to the part files and a record of assembly constraints and a bit more.
How much SWx experience do you have? (or Inventor, or Pro/E.....)
When you used MDT did you use library parts or did you keep everything in one file?
