i dont think XP uses SMB2 to talk back to the server. SMB is a 2008/windows 7 issue

After the changes made at server 2008 from SMB 2 to 1 and restarts,  the problem persists on XP machine.

then look at your drawings. it's most likely the source of your problems.

I tried to purge and re-create the drawings and disable the signature validation options "c:\WINDOWS\system32\AcSignOpt.exe" but, I repeat,  problem persist on machines with xp 64 bit

how many users connect to the server?

30 users with xp 64 bit (CAD machine) 

70 users with xp 32 bit (Office machine) no problem

We are using XP 32 bit and having trouble when we migrate the server to Windows 2008 R2.

I just changed the SMB setting on the server (disable SMB 2.0) but this didn't change a thing.

The other locations (about 85) where we use Windows 2003, we don't have performance issues.

The locations a from 20 to 450 workstations. The location where I am testen are about 10 concurrent users!

10 concurrent users should not create enough traffic to cause performance problems. I still think your issue is elsewhere

But there are problems and we cannot stop Windows 2008 roll-out.

Hope someone have more tips. The problem is in Stabicad - Stabibase.

If I try to copy the same network folders, with for example 20 .dwg file, with same security permissions on a 2003 server, the problem on 64-bit machines has not present.
