The performance issue is not copying or opening files, but within Stabicad to open the directory tree. After switching to and from Autocad, back to Stabicad it is slow.

thanks for your reply, but we use Autocad Mechanical 2011 not yet 2012

Our work-around is disabling some Shell-Extensions. You can use the tool http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html
