I'm having trouble with a single machine running Windows 7 x64 and Autocad 2012.
When we try to plot any drawing, the program almost always freezes after selecting a 'window' plot area.
The problem is repeatable by doing the following
1. Open up the print dialog box (CTRL+P)
2. Under Plot area select WINDOW for "What to plot:"
3. Click the window button which will take you to the drawing. Draw a border around what you want to print and hit enter.
At this point the program takes you back to the plot dialog box (as normal). However, at this point the program freezes. Nothing is selectable and the window cannot be closed. When you try clicking anything in autocad at this point... windows will give off an error beep. Sometimes pushing ESC will unlock the window but this also cancel the plot. Other times a force close is required.

There is one other thread dating back to May 2012 that also describes this issue. However, that thread went unanswered. This problem has been around for a while so hopefully there is a solution to fix it.

As an experiment, try saving the plotting area as a VIEW, and when you go to plot, select "VIEW" (instead of "Window") from the "What to Plot" pulldown.
If you still have problems, chances are the Layout is corrupt. Simply create a new layout tab, and copy-n-paste the contents of the first layout tab to the new one.

Does it freeze-up if you try plotting from a layout instead?

Well, as the doctor said, "If it hurts when you move your arm like that..."
Sorry. Couldn't resist.
Seriously though, the "saved view" option might be a good idea. Have you tried it?

Do you have the plot scale set to "fit to paper" and "centered"?

yes they are both checked, not that big of deal really just another autocad glitch, i print more often form layout space than model space. I print from model space when i need a qick print of a windowed area.
