AutoCAD 2010/2011/2012 DWG Format

I am using AutoCAD2012 and have referenced a PDF file.  The client uses AutoCAD2000, and so I save the drawings back to 2000.

When the client opens the drawings, he does not see the PDF file, but sees only the text I have put on top.  What can I do to fix this?  (Or what does he need to do, short of buying the lastest version of AutoCAD, which he is not going to do!?)

Thank you in advance for any advice.  He is getting a bit aggravated with me about this.

You can't make a feature not found in older programs suddenly appear: r2000 does not support PDF attachments. No fix. Use another graphics format like JPG or PNG.

I dont remember if r2000 supports tiff files or not.  But tiff might be the closest thing to PDF's.

Use a tool like PdfImport to import the contents into the drawing as native geometry, then you can save it to any (older) format AutoCAD supports.

TIFF was supported: TIFF format I don't recall though. Experiment and find out, let us know. Thanks.

I have used tiff files in the past and still use them sometimes.

What I like about the tiff files is when they are a true monochrome format having a white backgroud will become invisible leaving only the "black" lines.

The lines take on the color of the layer they are on.

and will plot with the same screening the color is set to.
