Hi,
just to close the loop - this has been addressed in SP1 for AutoCAD 2012. A new variable SNAPGRIDLEGACY let's you choose what the behaviour should be.
Setting the value of SNAPGRIDLEGACY to 1 will restore the old Snap behavior of the cursor when no command is active
The Service Pack can be downloaded here:

Thank you so much! That works great for me. Glad to see that Autodesk actually pays attention to the needs of its users through the forum. Thanks again!

Great! I'm looking forward to this fix, but I can't seem to get it to install. I am using ACADE 2012 but I am getting an error message saying that I don't have the correct software. I think it's looking for just regular AutoCAD. Did I do something wrong when I installed Electrical 2012?

Hi,
Service Pack 1 for AutoCAD 2012 can only be installed if you have pure AutoCAD installed.
Service Packs for other AutoCAD-based products (like AutoCAD Electrical) typically will include the fixes from the AutoCAD Service Packs - but unfortunately I cannot tell you if and when a Service Pack for AutoCAD Electrical 2012 may be released.
It may be a good idea to check the AutoCAD Electrical website and forum once in a while to see if and when a Service Pack becomes available.
Best regards,
Silvia

"SNAPGRIDLEGACY" is spot on, well done Autodesk, it's reassuring that you listen.
Shame the mighty Microsoft don't

I just tried to install the ACA 2012 service pack for 64 bit on two different machines and received the same error during the install and canceled out. ![]()
Has anyone else had problems?

Did you goto the correct place? The link posted above your link is the wrong link for architecture, it takes you to the
electrical version.
This is the correct link to the Architecture version.
