My main issue with 2010 is with Match Properties. When I start the command, I am used to selecting the source object and then selecting those to be changed. With 2010, the command prompt is asking that I select all objects to be cahnged and THEN select the source.
This is NUTS!!!
I love AutoCAD 2008. As soon as I started using 2009, then 10, and 2012, I realized that the Autodesk engineers are attempting to 'improve' the program but not for those who have been using cad for 10-15 yrs, but rather for those who are new to it. It stinks!! I don't want CAD to be so 'user-friendly' that it clogs the system, adds a bunch of nuances that we don't want, and makes things more cumbersome!

Hi,

Have you ever tried that on another pc than yours? For me it asks first for the source object and then for the destination object(s).
What happens if you start the command in this way by typing it into the command line:
_.MATCHPROP
(including underscore and dot!)
Does it now work in the way you are used to?

Hello. My other machine has good ol' 2008 and is fine, but I don't have 2010 on it to try. I'm sure that it would act with the same issue.
I did try the command as your suggested and it allows me to first select the source and then any other object to be changed. What does this now mean?
Thank you for helping.

Hi,

That means that you have a tool or application installed that has overwritten the original MATCHPROP command or the menu from where you start the command. So it's not Autodesk ......
.... (because of the words "This is NUTS")
Find out what tool or application does it and speak with the developer/company that redefined the command.

This is 2010 AutoCAD from Autodesk. I have no idea to what you are referring... Please explain.
Also, my point about AutoCAD being constantly changed to suit the needs of less skilled users are quite valid.

Hi,

I know that AutoCAD is from Autodesk, but it's highly flexible, either the CUI can be changed in any matter (up to totally different look&feel), you can use userdefined linetypes, hatches, fonts, .... you can add functionality to AutoCAD by using scripts, VBA macros, LISP-tools, either from internet where there are thousands of freeware plugins to make the job easier up to applications that can be bought for special branch-tools and a lot more.....
And so you (or somebody that has or had access to your pc) has installed either a customized menu that reverted the workflow of the _MATCHPROP-command or installed e.g. some LSP, VLX, SCR or VBA or ARX or .... that redefined the command. What I'm sure: It was not Autodesk that did that on your system.

Surely, I understand these things, but I did just install cad last night on this machine wtih no special scripts and no one else messing around with this.
I will have to find a way to work around this nuisance.

Hi,

2013 is release and you installed 2010 this night? OK, at the first start of AutoCAD you may have got the question for "migrate settings from previous release(s)" ==> have you got the question and if so, what was your answer?
>> I understand these things
Then start command _CUI and check what command is defined at the button where you start _MATCHPROP.

This 2010 version of AutoCAD I installed last night was on a brand new laptop.
I did check the settings and sure enough there is a macro set for Match Properties. '_matchprop
I really cannot explain where this is from.
Anyway, thanks for your helped. I changed the setting for the command.

In the 2010 version Autodesk put the MATCHPROP command on the clipboard panel. It is still there in the 2013 version. See attached screen shot.
