I imported a photo to scale and trace over, and now I cannot find my drawing. It is in the Layout sheet but nowhere to be found in model. This assignment is due tomorrow and I still have lots of work to do. Can anyone help me? I am new to Autocad (this is my first drawing), so keep it simple!

Hi,
>> I imported a photo to scale and trace over, and now I cannot find my drawing
Sometimes it happens that the geometry has to large distances, so e.g. you have geodatic coordinates like 300000x300000 where your parcels are and maybe by any mistake you have inserted your image at 0,0.
So if you do now a ZOOM EXTENTS you won't see anything on your screen as these two parts are then to small to be recognized.
Another situation may be that you have frozen or switched off all layers? Ok don't think so, you cheched that ![]()
Where can you start now, there are two options:
- a) ZOOM WINDOW -100,-100 100,100 and look what you see there. In your case I could think of your photo is there. If so, erase it and do again ZOOM EXTENTS.
- b) run ZOOM EXTENTS then ZOOM 0.8x and after that press <Ctrl>-<A> (to select all). If you have not to much geometry (less than the GRIP-objectnumber limit specified in sysvar GRIPOBJLIMIT) you'll see the grip-points of your objects and so you can zoom to them and modify them.
If you really don't find them you also have the chance to upload the drawing here so we can look into it.

If you have a less than e.g. 1000 objects it's ok to select all. If you have more than 100.000 objects, you will think of it first ![]()
