    Little Blue Squares?

    can someone tell me what these blue squares are for and how to turn them
    off?

    Without some kind of context they look like some artifacts. Do they occur in all drawings? Do they go away with a pan or zoom?

    Looks like a graphics problem - the screen not refreshing after objects
    are de-selected. Have got the latest graphics drivers? If you have a
    built-in graphics system you might like to try a separate graphics board.

    That's indicating you have Selection Cycling turned on and there's geometry
    overlapping

    It looks like your Selection Cycling may be on.
    Check your status bar, is the icon for selection cycling showing up blue (far right side)

    When selection cyling is on, this cursor pops up to identify that there is more than one entity beneath your cursor.
