    Layer Manager font error

My boss is unable to open the layer manager; he gets the Unhandled Exception error message: "Only True Type fonts are supported. This is not a True Type font." This occurs on a blank project or even on an existing one. this was happing with AutoCAD 2009 and now is still happening on his new install of 2010.

Any idea how why this is happening or how to fix it?
    Please use plain text.

This is a system problem, and usually indicates that required fonts are
    missing.

I had this error and Autodesk Support traced it to my display settings.

I was using Windows Classic Style in Windows XP (Display Properites->Appearance->Windows and buttons). When I switchd to Windows XP Style the Layer Manager opened.

Note that this problem only happened to me with the new modeless Layer Properties Manager ( LAYERDLGMODE = 1 ). I did not get this error when using classic layer manager ( LAYERDLGMODE = 0 ).

Thank you so much Ultrablue!! I had my boss change his LAYERDLGMODE to 0 and it worked and made him very happy! I also told him about the Windows XP style in case he ever decided he wanted to use the modeless menu.

The problem isn't related to using the Windows classic display style
(I use it exclusively without problems).

The layer properties manager is trying to use one of the fonts that is
configured via Control Panel (possibly the font used for desktop icons),
which can be a non-TrueType/ClearType font, and that's when it happens.
