I dont always get this error but occurs on my computer as well as others in my department. Whenever someone xref's something into the drawing and then either zooms in or out with the realtime zoom, we get a duplicate copy of whats in the drawing that does nothing. We cannot get rid of it by any means such as regen, closing the dwg, closing AutoCAD, the only thing that seems to fix it is restarting the computer. Has anyone else had this issue and if so have you had success with other means of fixing the issue?

sounds like a video cardgraphics driver issue. Are you using 'autodesk certified' devices and drivers?

I believe this is a documented bug. Have you installed all the service packs? I don't remember it happening to me for a while.
