Wondering how I get the help system to search discussion groups, knowledge base, etc as in previous versions.

    Thanks,

Too vague perhaps: did you set HELP to only search locally perhaps?

How was it set in earlier versions? or was it?

Exchange in R2012 gives you the option to expand or limit what to search and where, look at the pulldown tagged "EVERYWHERE", seems to search everywhere for me:

    Thanks for replying Dean.

In previous versions, I'm sure by default it searched everywhere, if not, I obviously added the on-line locations, but have just checked 2012 and it's set to eveywhere, yet it never seems to include stuff from anywhere other than standard help.

Having said that, I've just done a search for 'tables' and some knowledge base and blog stuff did come up (although some of it was totally irrelevant) so it definitely appears to be working ok.

    Thanks,

    Pete B.

That is great to read the issue looks to be resolved and clarified.  Thank you Dean for a inquiry well handled.

I have the same issue with 2012 search.  I get no results from the Discussion Groups in 2012, and most of the time I get no Online results at all.  As you can see in the attached screenshots, 2011 gives 5x more relevant results than I get from 2012.

Here's all the 2011 search options vs what 2012 offers.  I don't see anywhere to specify the Knowledge Base or anything at all online for that matter in Exchange.

I'd definitely agree that the web portions that are searched seem limited to compared to 2011.

Although I mainly use Electrical and thats definitely worse than 2011.

BTW, I originally tried to edit my last post, but when when I tried to 'click on' OK or whatever the button was to re-post, it told me too much time had elapsed (or words to that effect!).  What's that about? Do you only get a certain amount of time to edit a post?

I really hope I'm just missing something here, because as it stands now, 2012/Exchange provides absolutely lousy Help/Search capabilities compared to 2011

Is anyone else getting better results for "DISPSILH" with 2012 than what's shown in the demo below?
