HELLO ALL
Autocad 2012
I am continuing to have difficulty with the 2012 background color scheme in gray. I have certain features that I can't use and the difficulty in seeing is awful. Does anyone have a fix for this?
I understand from some research that these colors are in the hard code for Autocad 2012.
I would like to be able to change colors or at least modify the darkness of the background to make the features I need more apparent.
PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED SCREEN SHOT SHOWING THE DARK AREAS.
Thanks
Bob

Obviously autodesk_the_corporation considers your ability to perform your job with the software you have paid for less important than the branding scheme du jour their marketing department decreed. Despite several years of objections, there is still no evident willingness to respect the end-user's windows settings if they conflict with the marketing groups whim.
You can change from a dark grey scheme to a light grey scheme, Option command, Display tab, upper left. not much better IMHO

Go to Tools>Options>Display>Colors and you can change the background to any color you want. I suggest giving your crosshairs a different color as well. It helps to make it more visible.

Bob,
You can use the Light color scheme if you like.
Click the Application button (the big "A") to open the Options dialog.
Go to the Display tab
Click the drop-down list next to Color Scheme
Choose Light.
Hope this helps.
Jon

changed background colors only affects the model area not the application framework colors all around the outside of the program display. As you can see the black with black letters or grey with black letters of the extended outside area of the framework is still too dark. Those options to change colors are not for the application framework colors chosen by Autocad.

I agree with you. I am stuck with their selected blak and grey. If they can make it light or dark - why not white, blue, or any other color. Give me a choice in colors for text and for objects in the framework display.

What compounds the problem is, the same year they did this they also introduced bland icons that don't POP out at you, and for example in their grand wisdom they replaced the round magnifying glass (for zoom window) with a rectangle with a tiny magnifying glass in the corner. This can be hard to find, especially amongst similar-looking icons...

Hi Jon MacFarland
I am already using the light scheme and it is still too dark. Is this a Windows XP issue where I can reset colors to make it more visible. Have not had any luck yet playing with Windows settings. Got any other advice?

windows setting don't matter. That's the real problem here, in that whatever the user set up is ignored in favor of what the honchos at Adesk though looked kewl. Heck, you're only a user, you don't matter nearly as much as the corporate marrketing VP
