Hello. We are a High School that is trying to run AutoCAD under a restricted account (students). It does not work under the student account, but only on administrative accounts (which only have network drives redirected, not start menu). The student accounts have folder redirection for both network drives and start menu. Is it possible for AutoCAD to work with folder redirection enabled? Could it be a permissions issue instead.
We are anxious to use this program and would love to use it.

Most likely it's permissions -- although I'm not sure what you mean by redirection for the start menu. Can you clarify that?
Note that, in a school situation, I would look at setting up virtual machines, so every student has the exact set up every day.

Our students start menu gets redirected to our server. We create the start menu on the server side, with icons. I wasnt sure if AutoCAD was trying to write something to here, or if it could handle any types of network requests.
Every machines gets imaged the same way, so VM's probably wouldnt help us. The program is too large to use for our Virtual App program as well.
We thought it was the permissions as well, but we created a test student account that has all the same properties of regular restricted account, with the exception being that we did not do folder redirection. This seemed to run just fine without the folder redirection.
Just curious though, what permissions do you recommend setting and where?
We have exactly the same issue (high school, win 2008R2 domain, win7 64 bit client) . The students have redirected document folders. AC 2012 fails on start with an 1325 error.
This is the first application that I come across that is not "aware" of redirected folders. BTW I have confirmed this is the cause by removing folder redirection for a test user.
Is Autodesk working on a patch for this? I don't think this is a permissions problem. I think it's path problem.
When setting up two new staff today, I also came across the issue. Here's an overview.
I recently introduced a new group policy for folder redirection.
A new OU was created for this and new user accounts are added to this OU by default.
Existing user accounts, reside in a legacy OU that does not have the new redirection policy applied.
Two new CAD users start shortly, as such their AD accouints have been added to the NEW OU containing linked to the folder redirection policy.
Our existing CAD users have not yet been migrated to the NEW OU.
CAD purchased, installed, activated and launched (using local PC Admin account): SUCCESS
Logon using new user account, configure profile, and launch CAD: FAIL: error 1325
After much investigation (and troubleshooting) I concur with other in this thread.
Search for a solution continues. Workaround in use until then (no folder redirection)
