    Dimension scale changes

In AutoCAD 2012 My dimension style/scale seems to change automatically.  I'll add one dimension in paper space, and then the very next dimension will be in a different style.  It will say 30" one time, then 400" the next.  Seems like it picks its own scale randomly.  Any idea why this happens?  It happens with the default dim styles as well as custom styles.

Post a DWG with this problem, add notes inside the file so others can replicate.

It happens with EVERY drawing.  The attached file has been updated showing the proper dimensions.  But if I were to add a few more, at least half of them would be in a different scale.  The other half would be correct.  I use MATCH PROPERTIES to make sure all of them are the same.   It doesn't matter which dim style I use.

Other than getting paperspace dimension sizes when I miss a snap-point, it seems to be working fine, no issues and no matching needed. See attached.

I opened your version of the drawing and I was able to still get a bad dimension - though most of them did work.  Can you try to dimension the "tray slide" at the top of the top view drawing (the striped shelf)?  The dimension came out as 14-15/16 when it should be 59-3/4.  Matching the properties then gave me the correct dimension.

I am seeing the same problem with the dimensions.  I have had some problems with dims in PS in my own drawings as well.

I don't do PS dimensions, but it does seem odd that it will take your DIMSCALE of 4 for some dimensions, but not others that are snapped to the same points.

That video is awesome!  Exactly what I need to show to the people at Autodesk.  Thank you for putting that together.  People haven't believed what I've been telling them.  This proves it!  Now, if I could only find a solution.....

I can reproduce the issue with your objects. However, if I create two boxes on top of your geometry, move the boxes to the side and dimension in layout, the dimensions show the same value of 12.5, which is the value that the dist command shows in model space. Dim scale linear should be -4 as the scale is 1:4.

I noticed that there are objects created with this application called CSG EDITOR, and apparently it is used to create solids.

Do you only have issues with dimensions when you use this application to create your solids?

Do you get the same issues with objects created purely with AutoCAD commands?

Did you manually create the dimension styles?

    Cheers,

Not sure what the CSG editor is.  We bought a company years ago and we use their models to create sales drawings and modify them from there for custom work.  They worked with AutoCAD 14, so I'm not sure if they had any "CSG Editor" program to help them create their models.  I use 3dfaces or extruded lines to create new shapes.  I don't use solids.  I guess I could try to create a few models from scratch and see if I have the same issue.

I did manually create the dimstyles, but they are modified from an original default style.  I just edit the scale and rename it, and maybe change the arrow sizes.
