With 2011 I have noticed my DWG icons in explorer are displaying the generic icon and not the new DWG icon.
I have gone through the Folder options and File Types tab to try to reassign it but no luck.
I am having a similar problem: the thumbnail preview in Windows 7 (64bit) is not working. I have checked the settings in explorer and in AutoCAD. Files that were created in AutoCAD 2010 are displaying a thumbnail preview, but if opened and edited, the thumbnail goes away and the default icon displays. Is there a setting in either Windows explorer or in AutoCAD that I am missing?
OK Seriously. No one has a solution for this? Is there a registry setting or something that controls the display of the icon? It's still just showing the standard undefined icon in XP. I change it through folder options but it does not display in the folder.

This could have something to do with running different versions of Autocad. If I launch 2006 it restores the older 2006 icon but if I launch 2011 it removes the icons. See attached. I rarely have to go back to 2006. Just for support issues since I'm a cad manager.
It gets even worse: I tried to replace the shortcut icon with dwg. icon I have saved, it automatically turns into red and white image. I think we need to delete the red and white from some system folder and resave the dwg in there. Any thoughts? I am working on it, I use Autocad 11 on Win 7 and will let you know.
