AutoCAD 2010/2011/2012 DWG Format

What the heck?  Brand new machine and new autocad 2012 MEP install.  Anyone know hot to fix this?

You might check your Temp directory. Could delete the temp files. To delete the temp file - Browse to you systems temp folder (Start>Run>%temp%) and delete the contents.

Have you installed the below service packs published by Autodesk?  If not you can find it in the below link:

I have the exact same situation.  Brand new computer.  Lots of free drive space.  New installation of AutoCad Mechanical 2012.  Got the service pack.  When using anipath, it will generate the animation for a while and then bomb out with the complaint of not being able to write to the undo file because the disk is probably full.

This has been the least stable version of AutoCad that I can remember and I've been around since about 2.6.

Did you try the advice above about emptying your TEMP folder? Start Button>Run command, type %temp% to get there.

Or grab a free tool like CCLEANER and it can be set up to do that for you.

Delete your temp folder.  Everytime you start having this issue your temp folder has gotten to full.  We have it happen a lot when dealing with some of larger drawings when redefining blocks.  You can also turn undo off but that just makes life more difficult than the crash.

Delete your temp files / folders and you'll be good for a while.

I just started having this problem as well. AutoCAD LT 2013, just got done emptying my system temp folder and the same file crashed again while doing the same command (attempting to use the DIMBREAK to break dimension lines that were running through some text). Fatal error, aborted. Any suggestions?

Edit: I'm also getting an error when trying to open the recovery file that's created when the program crashes - the system says it's an invalid file.

Edit edit: Okay, I'm sorry to keep editing this, but I keep finding something new. Here's what seems to be the deal:

The error seems to be cropping up when I try to use the DIMBREAK's Auto feature to break multiple dim lines at once. I can get two, maybe three uses out of the function to break dimension extension lines around objects such as text, but after that it seems like it fills up some file somewhere because then I start getting the "Undo file is at xxxxx bytes, and will be disabled at xxxxx bytes. You can delete the contents by turning Undo off and back on using the Undo command." message. One or two more Auto breaks after that, and it crashes the program.

Has anyone else run into this, and does anyone know how to empty the Undo file? Turning the command off and on doesn't seem to do anything, and I've emptied the system temp folder but that doesn't seem to be helping either.

I have the same problem.

I read some "advices"  and of course, nothing helped.

Neither is Temp folder full ???? (how can a folder become full ???? - only a DISK could become full).

If I have 20 GB free space on DISK, then I have 20 GB free space in Temp folder.

This serious error with 64-bit versions of AutoCAD 2012 and  2013,  could be easily reproduced.

When large number of entities are copied, the size of undo file (ac$) becomes even 500 or 600 times bigger than size of dwg file !? Undoing this copy operation, easily cause this fatall error.

(in particular case, the size of ac$ is ~500 MB in AutoCAD 2013 and ~1GB in AutoCAD 2012)

The same thing does not occur on AutoCAD 2010 (neither 32-bit and 64-bit)

The same thing does not occur in 32-bit AutoCAD 2012 and 2013

Is there some real solution or fix ?

I have found that if I turn off the Undo command (UNDO; Control; None) before I do anything large (in my case - Redefine a large dynamic block and Attsync) that I can reduce this error.  I will still fatal error if I keep running CAD.

Sorry Kevin, but this is not a solution at all. We are not users of AutoCAD. We are software developers. During our tests we found that 64-bit AutoCAD 2012 & 2013 crashes. Our users already noticed this, but they blame us for this behavior. We could not tell users to work without UNDO. Or, we could not tell users - do not work with 64-bit AutoCAD 2012 and 2013 - those versions are unstable and crashes on drawings with large number of entities. (We are talking about architectural and civil engineering drawings, all of them are complex and significant majority of them is wit the large number of entities) This problem was reported a long ago.

Totally agree it is NOT a fix - but it keeps me from loosing my work with a "KNOWN" error that AutoDESK seems unable to resolve.
