    Autocad Performance Driver

I am trying to find the Autocad Performance driver to replace the Performance driver I had for AutoCAD 2010. My Autocad is part of the Product Design Suite (Premium 2012). When I go to the Autodesk driver section

    http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/cert?siteID=123112&id=16391880

it tells me that it cannot find an approved or certified driver for my card, Nvidia Quadro FX 4500. When I download the one I do find under just Autocad 2012 selection (or 3DS Max Design 2012 or Inventor 2012) when I try to install it I am told that the product cannot be found (probably because it is named differently as part of the Suite)

    Any help greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks.

    Dell Precision Workstation 670

    Nvidia Quadro FX 4500

    Win7 Pro 64 bit

Dual Xeon Processors, 3.2 ghz (single core, alas) Irwindale

    16gb ram

currently have Nvidia Quadro dirver version

    266.35-Quadro-win7-winvista-64bit-english-whql

    Driver Version: 8.17.12.6635

    Hello Miels07,

I think I can help you with your issue. AutoCAD 2012 no longer has a "NVidia Performance driver", you should get adequate performance with the 'Autodesk' driver being current. The reason there is no latest certified driver for the design suite is because the NVidia 4500 has not been certified with 3DsMax, Max only supports newer hardware that meets their minimum requirements.

For AutoCAD I would use the NVIDIA Driver Release 265.70 [8.17.12.6570] from this link.

I installed that driver but Hardware Acceleration is grayed out. With previous versions installing the performance driver would enable hardware acceleration. Any suggestions? I'm using C3D 2012 64-bit on Windows 7 64-bit with a Quadro FX1700.

    Hello dlowe,

There is no reason your hardware cannot handle hardware acceleration.  My guess is that you do not have directx installed correctly.  I would try and install the version of directx from the AutoCAD disk, if that does not work you should contact product support.

    Hope this helps,

I have the same issue...  Got a new computer with the nVidia Quadro 2000 on a Windows 7 64 bit and Building Design Suite Premium 2012.  We got it for the Structural Detailing and there is no support for this extension.  So I tried following the AutoCAD Performance Driver, and sure enough it won't work with 2012.  My hardware acceleration will never stay on.  I can turn it on, but it turns back off on it's own.  AutoCAD structural detailing crashes on me all the time, and until I can rule out a bad driver, I need to try one that is known to work with 2012 AutoCAD Structural Detailing.  But there is no support for this.

I have tried every update from nVidea, even some betas with no real luck.  I am currently running the 265.71 release, but it doesn't do much for it.  The graphics card never gets used that much and AuotCAD hangs a lot.  Might try this new one 276.52, but I don't see it addressing any ACAD issues.

Something approved by nVidea and Autodesk for Structural Detailing would be awesome, but even for the 2012 software would be nice.
