I am having a problem with AutoCAD crashing without fully loading. I will get the splash screen and the application background will momentarily appear with "AutoCAD 2011" in the title bar then it will all disappear with no visible error message. By checking ACD2011ENUAdlm.log in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\Adlm I get the following error message:
Even though the line numbers are different I have tried the solutions posted in this thread to no avail. - http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?si
My video card driver is up to date and I have also made sure FLEXnet Licensing Services are set to Automatic per this post - http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-2011/Autocad
This is a fresh install of AutoCAD 2011. It has never been run on this machine because I cannot get past this error. A few months ago I started getting the same error using AutoCAD 2010. Due to time/production constraints I simply dropped back to using AutoCAD 2008 at the time, which works without issue. To this day AutoCAD 2010 gives me an identical error - splash screen, quick background and then it disappears. I get the following error in the AutoCAD 2010 logs:
4028 2010/10/04 10:08:39 Reason=Fatal error
4028 2010/10/04 10:08:39 ComputerName=MKTENG5

4028 2010/10/04 10:08:39 AdlmIntError=17 [The license was not found]
I would greatly appreciate any help in getting this matter resolved.

Delete the CascadeInfo.cas file located in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\Adlm location first and then try to launch your product. If it doesn't work, you will need to also delete the ProductInformation.pit file and then reinstall your product.

Travis,
Thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention this is a standalone installation, so the CascadeInfo.cas doesn't apply in my situation.
I will attempt the other solution regarding the ProductInformation.pit file. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

The CascadeInfo.cas file still applies to stand-alone installations. Good luck and hope it works out for you. These are always fun issues to diagnose.

Well, I don't have CascadeInfo.cas in the specified folder and a Windows search didn't turn it up on my machine so I just assumed from what I'd read it was for networked installs only.

Interesting. You've probably got a larger issue going on there. That file should be created on initial launch. I'd just move past this issue then and go to the next one, since the quick fix is obviously not going to work for ya there.

OK, I deleted ProductInformation.pit and did an uninstall of 2011 as well as 2010.
Once that was done I reinstalled 2011 from scratch.
No love.
I still crash out at the same spot every time. In addition, I searched for the CascadeInfo.cas after the install and it is still not located anywhere on my machine.
This is the error log from my latest try:
Any further suggestions?

Hmmm... Do you have a machine with an identical setup of this software? You could try copying the CAS and PIT files from it over. That typically works if the software is the same.
Also, have you tried launching the software as another user, just to see if the problem exists beyond your user profile?

Still coming up empty. ![]()
I have a co-worker with the exact same computer setup. (Only difference is the monitor but it's attached to an identical video card.) He has been running 2010 and installed and is running 2011 with no issues. I copied the .PIT and .CAS files from his machine to mine, replacing my current .PIT. I came up blank. Here is the error report:
2540 2010/10/05 14:56:49 Reason=Fatal error
2540 2010/10/05 14:56:49 ComputerName=MKTENG5
2540 2010/10/05 14:56:49 OS=5.1.2600.Service Pack 3
2540 2010/10/05 14:56:49 File=AdlmIntSATSLicense.cpp,Line=364
2540 2010/10/05 14:56:49 VendorID=2 [ADLMACT]
2540 2010/10/05 14:56:49 VendorError=101 [The license cannot be accessed/loaded/opened]
I also logged into the machine as a different user and attempted to run 2011 and it crashed out with the same error.
This one is starting to drive me insane. We are due new machines in the 2011 budget so I always have that as my long term, fall back solution but I would really like to get to the bottom of the issue sooner rather than later.

This usually indicates that the ADLM trusted storage file has been corrupted.
Rename the following file:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\FLEXnet\adskflex_*_tsf.data
Restart AutoCAD and see if it will activate. A new adskflex_*_tsf.data file should be recreated.
