AutoCAD 2010/2011/2012 DWG Format

I am working on a file from an outside firm. Several hours into my work, I get and error that the file needs recovery. When I attempted to RECOVER the file it would consistently hang on "Auditing Entities Pass 2". This also occurred when I opened the file and attempted to AUDIT directly. What is going on?

WBLOCK out all that you want from this file then try to recover the new file and use it instead.
Otherwise you may be on the path of a fatal dwg file death in the original.
