Best method to deploy Tool Palettes / Packages?

Hello all, I'm about ready to start selling Tool Palettes and/or Packages and am trying to understand the most efficient method. What I want to end up happening is that customers would maintain a single Catalog in their Content Browser, when they purchase a new Palette they can add it to the Main Catalog, and then i-drop the Palette into their Tool Palette. So... Here is what I've come up with thus far:

    1. I create a Catalog Install File (has anybody actually tried this and does it really work?) that contains nothing but the Main Catalog. This install file will be included with every purchase so if the user doesn't already have the Main Catalog they can now create it.

    2. Now I would like the user to be able to 'install' the Palette they purchased into this Main Catalog but I don't think that can be done with an Installer?!? If I'm wrong please let me know! So I suppose the next best method would be to create another Catalog, which is temporary, that contains the purchased palette. I create a Catalog Install File for that Catalog and the user installs it.

    3. Now they have 2 Catalogs, they copy the palette from the temporary Catalog and paste it into the Main Catalog. Then they delete the temporary Catalog.

    4. Now they can i-drop the palette to their Tool Palettes.

    5. They continue to do this for every Palette they purchase so in theory they end up with one Main Catalog with a variety of Categories and Palettes inside.

    Does this sound correct? Thanks!

I think the Catalog Install File is a bust... Instead I'm going to package up the files/directories related to the Catalog and send that to the user who will have to unzip it, place it in the correct location, and then manually load the Catalog from the Content Browser. Sounds like a PIA but I've done it before.

Also, inside the 'temporary catalog' (see step 2 in the OP) I'm going to include a Palette AND a Package of the tools. This way the user can decide if they want to add another Palette or simply add all of the tools to an existing Palette.
