I bought AutoCAD 2008 software from a company that has gone out of business. I bought their computer that had ACAD installed on and the original disk. Now I need to upgrade the computer. I have bought a new computer and tried to install Autocad. The software will not allow me to register it. I am assuming this is because I have it on the old comp. still. I do not want to uninstall it until the new is up and running as I can't have the down time. I have the original Reginfo (serial number and activation code) if that helps. Can I load the software on the new Cpu? Do I need (or can I) to purchase another license?

Nope, it's because the license belongs to whom you bought it from, the license is for that person and can not transfer to you, unless you bought their business and the license registered with business name.
Patchy is right, as usual. You bought a disc and you probably paid too much for it. i.e. You got ripped off. The license itself is non-transferrable and you will not be able to activate that seat. Sorry.
The rules of this are located in the End User License Agreement.
