Text frame around mtext

Am I missing it? Why can you make a text frame (that will follow the boundaries of the mtext box when edited) so easily around multileader text but the same option is not available for mtext?? I don't want TCIRCLE - that will not change with the text changing... ?

There was some leader text object I picked up somewhere sometime, that had the rectangular frame around the text that would resize when the text changed. I was able to use it in a similar dashion by making the leader so short it couldn't be seen on the plot. sometimes it would act screwy but most times it did what you are looking for, so perhaps if you tried looking for leaders of a similar type?...

I hope my info was useful, but if by some odd chance it actually solved your issue, feel free to mark your post as "Accept as Solution". Thanks! :smileyhappy:

I achieve this by placing a table which is 1 cell only with a border.

However, it will resize the height automatically as you place text, but not the width.

Not sure I've ever seen anything else.

As th OP pointed out the MLeader command handles this very well.

So just creat one then remove the actual leader part of the object.

Since I first posted, I did find that you can use multileader and delete the leaders, but I have one more question: is there any way to adjust the line surrounding the mtext so that it is not so close to the text?

If you use a qleader and select the option in Settings to Frame text, then you can adjust the Text Offset in properties like this:
