Self-intersecting curve?

I'm using AutoCAD Architecture 2009 and Windows XP Professional. I have a closed polyline containing some straight segments and some arcs. I want to extrude this into a 3D solid but I'm told I cannot extrude or sweep a self-intersecting curve. I guess I know what one is but I don't know how to work around the restriction. Any ideas?

Highlight your pline.  Zoom in looking at all grips and youll find
one that is 'intersecting itself'.  Simply adjust the grips and your
good.

Use the BOUNDARY command to create a new polyline inside the old. The
new one will ignore the odd vertex location or segment overlap that is
not letting you extrude.

If your polyline does cross itself, like a figure 8, use BOUNDARY inside
each loop and then union the two pieces after you extrude them.

You're right. I found flaws that I hadn't seen. Thanks.

Zounds! A nice, simple workaround for my sloppy ways. Thank you.
