Object Snap Sensitivity

Is there any way to change the sensitivity of Osnap? I have gone through the system variables and nothing seems to jump right out as a setting for this. I do not like the fact that when I am half between the endpoint and midpoint of a line, and all i want to do is draw an inacurrate cross line, that AutoCAD thinks I want the endpoint or the midpoint. I know, F3 turns off Osnap, but I do not want to keep turning it on or off.

Thanks,

Adjust the APERTURE setting. I believe the choices are 1-50.
