How do I create an object that when partly on top of another object will hide that part of the object below it? In a 2-D drawing I created a box. I then created a rectangle that is longer, but narrower than the box and put it on top of the box. No matter what I seem to do I see the box lines through the rectangle.

trim out the unwanted box entity or type "wipeout" and do the "polyline"
part of that command.....

OK, It worked, but now I had to move the object to the left a few inches. How do I erase or move the wipeout?

Well, you could type "wipeout" - "frame" - "on" and it'll turn the frame on,
so you wouldn't have to "move the object to the left a few inches.....
turning it on also allows you to delete the wipeout.... just make sure it's
the wipeout frame you're selecting and not the original polyline......

I would like to take this question further.
I too have 2 object on top of each other and I want the top one to cover the bottom, like in the case of a cross.
I also want to move the top from time to time without having to do anything. 2D maybe give it a surface?!
thanks

Hi,
if you just want to move the overlaying object, create the geometry first, then use either wipeout or create a hatch (on a layer with truecolor 255,255,255/clean white) and make a block from your line-geometry and the wipeout or hatch.
As a block is one object then you can move it easily and you don't have to worry about anything like associativity or draworder or ....
