Someone sent me a regular .dwg file that must reference "scadline.shx" somewhere. It slows down the open for each file (12 files) because it wants me to specify the location of the .shx file upon open. The person who sent it to me does not know what it is and none of my in use text styles reference it. I've purged everything available. Any suggestions on how to remove this broken link, where the link may be, how to fool it by pointing to a different .shx file, or perhaps saving another .shx file as "scadline.shx"? I don't know how to do any of those, so if someone does, please let me know. Thanks.

Man, I would love something like this, I get sick of getting files with
shape references in them, and no shape files to be found.

I have recently discovered that sometimes it's looking for a "big" font. Use
the STYLE command and check each text style defined in the dwhg. Uncheck,
Use Big Font. This will eliminate the search in some cases.

Good point, TRJ. Only problem with unchecking big font is that some people use the bigfont feature for keyboard accessible special characters. Might muck up some other things
Same basic problem, not sending all the goodies along with the drawing.

BTW: "scadline.shx" is a shape file used in Carlson products (SurvCADD,
Carlson Survey, etc)
As Murph said, see
http://rkmcswain.blogspot.com/2006/02/select-shape -file.html for some ideas.
