    Patent Drawing on AutoCAD 2008?

I'm seriously considering purchasing AutoCAD 2008 to use as my primary drafting software. I've searched for what was previously said about patent illustration, but the threads were quite dated (5-7 years ago), and I'm not sure if what was said then is still true today. What I want to ask is:

    1. Considering that up till now most of my work has been tracing, should I get (A) AutoCAD 2008, or (B) AutoCAD 2008 LT? I think I'll still need to use the modeling aspect of AutoCAD for my work, so I'm undecided between the two.

    2. Should I use AutoCAD, or could I use another Autodesk brand product for my patent illustration needs?

    Hi,

The best way is to get LT and see if it does what you need. If it proves
inadequate, upgrade it to the full AutoCAD. Any learning of LT will be
directly useable in the full version.

Check with your local dealers what the economics are.

Have you looked at cheaper, easier to use CAD programs? AutoCAD has a
steep learning curve... . Start downloading and trying demos of them
all, you need to find what you are comfortable using and willing to
    spend time using.

You might have your local reseller demonstrate some of the other Autodesk products. I'm not sure AutoCAD will work very well for typical patent type drawings.

The original Inventor Model from which Inventor Studio created the illustration.
