Hi,
I am trying to use group policy to install Civil 3D 2008 and Civil 3D Land Desktop Companion 2008 and I am getting an Error 1606. Could not access network location Autodesk\LandXML Reporting.
This is only happening on SOME machines. They are all XP sp2 machines. With some it works great, the others all fail with this error message.
It would seem that the local install path is being mis-interpreted as a network path but I can't figure out why. all the machines are up to date with MS updates and all have the newest installer.
Anybody have any suggestions? Autodesk??? Autodesk??? anybody??
Thanks,
Jason

there could be a registry item that points to an old install location on a previous drive. Try deleting the registry keys to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R17.1 \ACAD-6004:409
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R17.1\ ACAD-6004:409
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R17.1
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R17.1\

I had the same issue yesterday and found that the problem was with a specific user profile not the machine. I deleted two registry keys and then the applications installed without any problems. The registry keys will be specific to your error message but will be found in: HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>Windows>Curre ntVersion>Explorer>UserShellFolders
I found the fix at http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6121_102-0.html?forumI D=45&threadID=104829&start=15
Hope this helps anyone else having this issue

Hi,
I think this problem is more comlex: with group policy or sms deployment, the installation is done with the system account. How do yoy get access to hkey_current_user of the system account?
