Having a problem with a .dwg file that I have used in the past, when I try to open, I get the dreaded "Drawing file is not valid".
I have opened in WordPad, and there are many characters, but won't open in ACAD. Drawing is a ACAD 2009 file, but is slightly too large to post here.
Anybody out there with suggestions? I can zip the file to about 1.58mB.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks again, but
Recover states "unable to recover drawing file",
Unsure on settings for WBLOCK, do I select block, drawing, objects? Source drop down is grayed out, but I can select destination to that original file. When I do that, file is overwritten...I made copies for protection
I apologize for the extraneous information on previous reply.
Is there some way to modify the header of the drawing in "word" or similar to correct the reading of the file?
I have not seen any program that can edit .dwg in wordpad to make it alive again.
There was a program that can convert .plt back to .dwg but not many people use .plt anymore (but me)
Backup your PC often still a good practice for any offices.
